We were invited to a BBQ on Saturday at a friend's house, a friend who happens to know this is an IVF pregnancy, how hard we worked to get here.
She neglected to mention she'd invited a family literally just starting to get over a severe case of the pox. (Literally out of bed for the first time in 5 days that day). The father and his two children were affected - so clearly they realise not all adults have had the pox before?
I haven't. Neither have my dad, brother or sister.
The father turns to me and says: "the chicken pox is going around, and it's so bad that even people who have had it before are getting it again." (my GP cousin later assured me the guy is full of cr*p!!)
Needless to say, I got out of there as soon as I could. But the panic stayed with me. What if? Even if they weren't contagious - would I have to spend the rest of my pregnancy worrying about pox?
I called my midwife who answered the phone on the Sunday (!) - a miracle in itself.
She booked me in for an emergency blood test to see if I'm immune to chicken pox.
I waited two days in terror.
I'm positive for antibodies - I'm immune to the virus! How?! She said sometimes the body builds immunity to it without ever getting the symptoms of the disease!
How lucky am I?
Then I realised, I need to have more faith. Despite all my fears and worries, this baby proves to me time and time again - s/he comes with many, many miracles.
Here's to a quiet and stress-free second trimester!

P.S. Coming out the closet went fine, everyone was so excited. There were lots of 'I knew its!'. It was very scary but I feel way better not having to hide it anymore.
P.P.S. I start pregnancy pilates classes tomorrow and I'm so excited!
P.P.P.S Remember my friend who was also struggling TTC and now is pregnant and due a week after me? She booked me in for a full body pregnancy massage - her treat - on the condition I STOP STRESSING! Isn't she just amazing? It's exactly what I need!
Thank goodness for pregnancy, chicken pox immunity, great friends, and meeting amazing people through this blog. I'm feeling so very lucky.
